Urban Tree Canopy Policy in the Comprehensive Plan Update

Kate Lunceford | Published on 5/2/2024

Save the date! On June 4th at 11:30 A.M. County staff will brief the Snohomish County Council on the Urban Tree Canopy Policy. You can bet there are forces trying to water down the policy, making it optional or suggested. LWVSC and Futurewise will be asking you to speak up once again! Please think about why urban trees make a difference to you and your families – why we need a new definition of SUCCESS. We are losing time to bring the human community back into balance with our ecosystem.

You can learn all about this policy and others at the program Building a Livable Snohomish County: Be Informed and Be Involved on Saturday, June 1, 2024, 10 A.M. to noon at the Mt. Baker Room, Everett Transit Station, 3201 Smith Avenue, Everett. WA  98201. Space is limited. Please RSVP to Kristin Kelly at edpas2016@gmail.com. This will be a great opportunity to learn more about critical issues that will be considered by the Snohomish County Council during their public hearings this year on the 2024 Update to the County’s Comprehensive Plan Update. See more here.

Please watch for action alerts on the Urban Tree Canopy Policy in May. Plan to write to the Council or testify or both! You can see slides from the April 18 UPDATE to LWVSC here.
