About the Children's Services Committee...
The Children’s Services Committee meets on the first Friday of the month (September to June), from 10 a.m. to noon. For the duration of the coronavirus crisis, we are meeting virtually using Zoom. Contact Phyllis Busch if you’d like to join us. New members are always welcome!
The committee has advocated for the safety of children by concentrating its work on two major areas. Our first emphasis was on the sex trafficking of minors. We continued that work as we did research on a study of child and family homelessness in Snohomish County.
Our study is complete and can be seen here, along with Consensus Questions for discussion with the LWVSC units in the fall of 2020. After the consensus process, we hope to update the LWVSC position on the issue. Armed with a stronger position, we will lobby for appropriate policies and legislation that focus on children and families in our county and in the state.

Other committee activities:
- On the last Monday of each month we provide a meal to the youth at the U-Turn Drop-in Center of Cocoon House in Everett, which serves trafficked and homeless youth.
- We purchased The Long Night, a documentary about child sex trafficking in America. We can loan the DVD to your group and provide a speaker. Contact us to arrange this.
