Voters - what issues matter most to you in the next election?

Karen A Crowley | Published on 8/14/2022

This fall, we will be electing all our WA State legislative representative, many state Senators and US Congressional representatives - all in the newly-drawn voting districts. The Snohomish County Prosecutor, PUD Commissioner District 3 and many local judges will also be on the ballot.

In reality, the candidates are applying for jobs and we, the voters, are hiring. Who would employ someone to work for them without a job interview? The answer is simple: no one. It is prudent to question prospective employees, weigh their answers carefully and decide who is best qualified for the position. The same process should be applied to our candidates for office.

What issues do you want candidates to address? What critical discussions are top of mind for you, or are emerging in your community? We invite your input as we build our plan for fall candidate forums. Just follow this link and tell us what matters most to you in the upcoming election. (Last date to submit your ideas is Thursday, September 8.)

Our fall Candidate Forum series will begin with our September 12th edition of Magazine on the Air on KSER/KXIR. As always, each forum will be recorded and available to watch or listen as your schedule allows. You can find all the dates and links on our Candidate Forums page.

Election day is November 8th.  At a time when access to the poles is being challenged and deliberately suppressed across this country, we should be proud to live in Washington State. Our system of mail-in voting, and online and same-day voter registration is a national model. The League of Women Voters certainly appreciates that access to the ballot is a hard-fought right that demands a never-ending vigilance. Please, don’t take this right for granted. Participate in this fundamental piece of democracy. Be an informed voter.
