LWVSC 99th Birthday Cake

League Birthday Luncheon on February 22

A century ago, on February 14, 1920, the League of Women Voters was founded to advance democracy by educating voters, especially women. After seven decades of activism, women were finally on the brink of getting the right to vote throughout the U.S.

Help us celebrate this milestone in our history at our annual Birthday Luncheon on February 22. More information and registration...

Edmonds Pioneer and Suffrage Champion Honored

Check out the historical interpretive sign at the corner of Sunset and Caspers in Edmonds. The plaque honors Edmonds publisher, land developer and suffragist Missouri Hanna. League member Rita Ireland wrote successful grants for creation of the plaque, authored the text, worked with the artists, and coordinated with city officials to place it adjacent to Hanna Park. Read more about this  collaborative effort in our Centennial blog and in My Edmonds News
