Civil Discourse: A Community Conversation
The League of Women Voters of Snohomish County presented “Civil Discourse: A Community Conversation” on April 29, 2018. The featured speaker was Jacquelyn Styrna, regional director at Skagit County Dispute Resolution Center. The audience divided into small groups for discussion. This forum was a timely conclusion to the National Week of Conversation (April 20-28), during which Americans are encouraged to engage in civil and respectful conversations about the future of our nation. The goal of these conversations is to help people learn from each other, build relationships and look for ways to reduce the growing polarization in our public life.
Held in October 2017, our first Forum on Civil Discourse was presented by the League in partnership with Edmonds Community College, Sno-Isle Libraries, AAUW Edmonds SnoKing Branch, and NAACP. It was facilitated by Bob Drewel, former Snohomish County Executive.
