LWVSC Action Alerts

Our League's Action Chair will post Action Alerts here and in The Voter newsletter. These Alerts are messages to mobilize our members and supporters to take action in support of a specific point of view, with the goal of influencing public policy.

Action Alert on Development in SW Snohomish County

The LWVSC Natural Resources Committee is asking League members to send comments before August 25 about the Southwest Urban Growth Area Boundary Planning Study.  The currently rural area under consideration is on both sides of Highway 9 from the county line past Clearview. It contains a major watershed around Little Bear Creek and its tributaries. The study says it is not proposing land use changes but it seems clear from the proposals in the study that it is.  Futurewise and  Pilchuck Audubon in testimony at the August 7 public meeting agree that development here would inappropriate and would divert needed funds for infrastructure in urban growth areas along transit.

You can send your comments in email to Jacqueline Reid, Supervisor of Long-Range Planning, jacqueline.reid@snoco.org. On our Facebook page you can find an example of an email that you can adapt.
