Is riding the light rail a healthcare issue?
Yes, most definitely! You can travel with less stress and get exercise walking to the station.
My husband and I rode the new light Rail extension and the bus link from the Edmonds Waterfront Center on the first day of the new bus route. Although there were a couple of hiccups, it was mostly easy and fun. I want to share some information that could be helpful to you if you aren’t a veteran rider.
Get the app for your phone (
Transit GO Ticket from King County Metro). We found the best information for transit is on the app, plus you can buy the ticket online and not need to wait in line at the kiosk.
If you are eligible for a senior pass (age 65 or better), get it before you go. You will need to verify your eligibility. However, a full-fare ride is $3 for everyone and includes transfers from the bus to the train.
Consider your home location when deciding where to catch the bus or light rail. We were advised at a meeting to use the 909 bus to the Mountlake Terrace light rail station. We found that it was closer for us to use a different bus and go to the Lynnwood station.
The only negative issue we encountered was the location that the bus stop is not always clear. We missed one bus from the Mountlake Terrace station because we were at the drop off rather than the pick up site. Be sure to be in the right place.
The best thing to do is try it!
