Our Snohomish County LWV started off this year with a bang with seven Constitution Day celebration readings and voter information tables covering four days in two Goodwill stores. So there is lots to be Fired Up! about!
We were lucky enough to have Washington State president Karen Crowley at our annual all-member meeting on September 27 with information about National and State actions - and there are a lot of issues. Forty-five attendees had lots of questions related to the Unite and Rise Campaign, as well as local issues. One attendee sent us a note following the meeting: "Thank you, Tenses, for a powerful meeting today. Karen is a powerful, inspiring speaker and Nadine has much of that same charisma. Hearing about our goals and everyone's work gets and keeps members "fired up"!
We are gearing up for the coming election, looking for volunteers to serve as Election Observers. Think about serving - this is an easy daytime volunteer activity that gives confidence to the public that the elections are being done securely, fairly, and transparently. We need LWV members to step up for this important task.
Another action that expands our reach and gives maximum exposure to the work of our hard-working Candidate forum team is to watch and share the candidate forum videos on our YouTube channel with voters.
Do not be surprised if you get a call from one of our board members. We are trying to ensure that people know how to log in as members, find upcoming events and educational opportunities, and serve the greater community as we empower voters and protect democracy.
