November's elections were certified November 25, and already they seem far behind us. But I need to call out all of the work that LWVSC members did for that election. Starting with our continued efforts to engage citizens and make it easy for them to register out in the community - thank you to:
- Voter Services team all the couriers, the tablers, the people reaching out to schools and other events that host tables, as well as those that keep the tabling supplies ready to go and the storage unit in order.
-
Our Communications team that designs and gets out press releases, flyers, and signage so we can get our message out into the public and of course the Vote411 work.
- The Candidate forum team that sets up, moderates and hosts events across the county.
-
Our Auditor Contract team that ensures that all the tests of the voting system have observers. It all led up to November 4th.
We hope to focus as much energy on getting out the vote in future elections - as those who don't vote really aren't practicing democracy, and we need them to make this a robust system that truly represents the entire community.
Next up is the legislature. LWVWA state did a bang up job with the Action Workshop - reviewing expectations for the coming legislative session, bills that will be carried over and the challenging budget situation. It was great to see so many LWVSC members in attendance. Make sure you are signed up for the state legislative newsletter
here.
We've listened to the results of our member survey and added our first evening membership meeting for November - which was a great way to enter the holiday season. We'll be gathering more socially in December and sharing cookies as well as collecting nonperishable food for Hope for Homies at the Lynnwood Library, 10:00 A.M.
And again, we’ll meet in the evening at 7:00 P.M. for a discussion about what’s ahead and a holiday toast. I look forward to seeing you there.
Enjoy your December and whatever celebrations it holds.
