Candidate Forums need YOU!

Karen Crowley | Published on 3/2/2026

The candidate forum team is gearing up for the 2026 election year and invites all interested members to join us. This year, voters will make decisions at the state and national level. We will be electing all our Washington State representatives, half our State senators, all our US Congressional representatives – and more. The ballot will include several judicial positions and a handful of Snohomish County races.

The team is planning a robust schedule of virtual forums for both the primary and general elections. Every member of the team takes on a role – and we have many roles to fill.  We welcome new members. In particular, we are looking for additional members to work in these areas:

Question Team: This team gathers questions about long-standing and emerging issues. The questions will be recommended to our State League Vote 411 team and be considered for our local forums. We are looking for members who are aware of current issues and are able to create unbiased, nonleading questions. (Guidelines have been created by LWVWA and LWVUS.)

Coordinators: These are our wranglers. They contact candidates in identified races and secure their participation in a forum. Our most successful coordinators have great attention to detail, are comfortable using Google e-mail and spreadsheets - and are highly persistent!

Moderators: These members are the face of each forum. They run the forum, ask the questions, and keep everything moving ahead. A good moderator will have a clear, steady speaking voice, a basic understanding of current issues, and be able to keep their composure under pressure!

Our forums are a respected and appreciated source of nonpartisan information for voters. If you have an interest and the skills required – or just an interest in the work – please consider joining us! We meet monthly through November – usually on a Tuesday afternoon from 2:00-3:30 P.M. You can find all our meetings and zoom links on the website calendar. Our first meeting is March 24th. Hope to see you there.
