On July 29, at noon, League members across Washington will sit down with one of America's most widely read historians. Heather Cox Richardson has agreed to join us, live on Zoom, to discuss her book
How the South Won the Civil War.
You might wonder what the Civil War has to do with today's politics and the nation’s history. A historian, Heather has spent her career answering that question — and on July 29, she'll be answering yours. It’s the inaugural event in our new statewide civic book club series marking America's 250th.
Members will have the opportunity to submit questions in advance to help shape the discussion. (Nonmembers should be able to watch via a YouTube stream. Stay tuned.)
The statewide author discussion is only part of the picture. If we want to hold a face-to-face chat within the chapter – either on Zoom or in person – the book club committee will provide discussion questions for us. This is a chance to connect with fellow members. If you’re interested in an in-person meetup, contact
Kathy Gill.
