LWVSC at the National Apprenticeship Week Event

The League hopped into the ninth National Apprenticeship Week event at the Sno-Isle TECH Skills Center in Everett on April 23, 2026 to register voters and talk to job seekers about voting. Thanks to Partnership Coordinator Trudy Swain, we had a stellar placement near the entry to greet over 1,000 registrants coming to look at the dozens of apprenticeship programs on offer. This is the largest event in Western Washington planned by an all-woman leadership team.
Young folks swarmed the tables looking for opportunities to get training in fields they may never have considered. We tagged along with dozens to say we were registering voters. We passed out Decline to Sign flyers to warn about the destructive voter suppression initiative being circulated in Washington. We talked about their superpower as voters. With over one hundred conversations, we registered five new voters and may have inspired a couple of new members.
Thanks to Daniela Birch, Vicki Roberts-Gassler, Terrie Rae and Chris Anderson, Gayle Joinette, and Jamie Barrett for volunteering at this event.
