President's Pen - June 2026

This is my last report as president. I want to thank you for the opportunity to serve this past year. Before I became president I was impressed that the League of Women Voters was strongly defending democracy and acting on the constitutional crisis with a plan - the “Unite & Rise” plan. It has been an honor to serve during this year of momentous challenges and changes to our government. The LWV Snohomish County has a deep bench of long-time and new members who show up again and again to make our community better.
I have spent hours with my “tenses” partners - Past President Cathy Liu Scott and President-elect Brenda Mann Harrison - at our weekly meetings, and along with our members, our Board, our committee chairs, and our officers, we have formed a strong and supportive team.
Together we’ve taken on new programs, reached out into the community in new ways, and expanded membership. I have been proud to be part of that team and part of the long tradition of League action in this country.
I look forward to working with Brenda and know that she is more than prepared to take on the tasks ahead. She is thorough and thoughtful, full of energy, and pays attention to the details while keeping her eye on the high level strategy.
Let’s all exercise our rights and get out the vote this year.
