May Library Display

The glass display case in the lobby of the Snohomish Library is enormous. That large size made it the perfect place to showcase why people vote and to inspire everyone who walked by to do the same.
During the No Kings rally in March, our League volunteers asked rally goers to write the answer to the question, “Why do you vote?” Their handwritten stories filled page after page of newsprint we had clipped to an easel.
Then in April, at the annual gala for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), we asked the same question. This time, we collected handwritten answers on colorful sticky notes.
Both the newsprint pages and the sticky notes covered the large back wall of the Snohomish Library display case throughout the month of May, highlighting the importance of every voice, every voice.
On May 31, all those wonderful stories were removed from the Snohomish Library, our last scheduled public display for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. Based on the number of visitors to the library during the month when each display was shown, our messages were seen by more than 110,000 individuals.
Our team is now preparing to expand our community outreach through public displays of voter education and citizen rights. We’re exploring new venues, and volunteer Laura Hudgins is making contact with Sno-Isle librarians to schedule our League for more displays. So far, we’re booked for July and October through December.
The glass case in the lobby of the Snohomish Library is so big that League volunteer Brenda Mann Harrison could squeeze inside to work on the display under the direction of League volunteer Jane McClure.
