What’s Important to Our Members?

Brenda Mann Harrison | Published on 10/1/2026

We take member feedback seriously. That’s why we asked League members to take the “What’s Important to You?” survey in August and early September.

We received 45 responses. Here are some highlights from what you said.

The top two reasons that volunteers say "yes" is because:
  • They care about the cause or reason to help.
  • It was something they could do to help out.
When we asked: Did your participation in that action meet your expectations: 100% said "yes."

The top reason League members find it difficult to participate in activities or to volunteer comes down to timing or scheduling.

Members overwhelmingly said our League should keep offering an in-person daytime member meeting with a virtual evening option on weekdays. Seven percent said they are not interested in attending meetings.

Are members interested in attending small group, social gatherings of League members in your local area? Nearly 49% said “yes” and 41 percent said “maybe.”

When we asked about communications:
  • Members said they value the LWVSC Voter newsletter that’s sent via email September through June.
  • Sixty-one percent said they would be interested in receiving reminders and important League information via text messages.
  • Advocacy opportunities and committee updates topped the list of information they wanted.
A little more than 88 percent of League members feel very or somewhat connected to our League; those who don’t feel connected yet, want to be.

The survey data and comments we received will be shared with the LWSC Board of Directors who will be working on action steps to deepen inclusion and belonging, which is one of the board priorities for 2026-27.
