Take a piece of paper out and write down the number of solicitations you receive in one day to give to this or that.
On that same paper, write the number of e-mails you receive in one week from the National and Washington state League of Women Voters asking for a donation.
Now think hard and write the number of times you were asked in the past year to donate to the League of Women Voters of Snohomish County. For most of you, that last number is probably zero.
We’re going to change that – not because we think you should receive more solicitations – but because the League of Women Voters of Snohomish County is worth supporting. The work we do makes a difference. We need to remind each other and ourselves about that and support the good we do, like Constitution Day Community Readings, candidate forums, voter outreach throughout Snohomish County, and the many things you read about in the Voter newsletter.
When we presented the LWVSC budget for 2026-27 at the Annual Meeting in May, we pointed out that, once again, we would rely on funds in our checking account to meet the expenses anticipated for our civic and voter engagement. In response, the LWVSC Board is focusing on building sustainable financial resources as one of our priorities this year so that our League can continue to empower voters and defend democracy in the years to come.
What that means is we’re going to ask you from time to time to support what you value. If you value what LWVSC does, please give. Go to lwvsnoho.org and click on the red Donate button at the top.
Your gift matters.
