LWV Activists Arrested While Supporting Voting Rights

The national League of Women Voters has joined with hundreds of voting rights advocates to demonstrate in Washington, DC in front of the White House. The protests resulted in the arrests of participants such as the LWV Board president, its CEO, two board members, its senior director of Mission Impact and League members from at least eight different county leagues. The demonstrations demand that Biden strongly support voting rights today. This demonstration was the largest in a series aimed at spurring the White House to take action to get the Senate to pass both the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. Both pieces of legislation have been blocked in procedural votes.
You can aid the League’s effort to secure White House support for moving these bills forward by adding your name to the National action alert.
