Do you want to provide voter registration at your high school or community event? Contact us at the email address below, Attention Voter Service.

To register to vote in the state of Washington, you must be: 

 
  • A citizen of the United States
  • A legal resident of Washington state and not claiming the right to vote in any other state
  • At least 18 years old by election day. 16- and 17-year-olds may pre-register but will not appear in the look-up system or receive a voter registration card until their 18th birthday. A voter who turns 18 between the August Primary and the General Election can also vote in the Primary. Learn more about WA State's Future Voter program.
  • Not serving a DOC sentence in total confinement
  • Not disqualified from voting due to a court order


In the state of Washington you do not have to register by political party or declare political party membership to vote in the state’s regular primaries or general elections.

Once you are registered, make sure that your voter information stays current so that you receive the correct ballot on time. You can change your voting address online at VoteWa.gov, or in person or by mail.

Seasonal resident or "snowbird"
In the state's address confidentiality program
Restoration of voting rights after a felony conviction
Without a home or having a nontraditional address
